In 1991, Dan Graham transformed the roof at 548 West 22nd Street into a small-scale urban park. The Rooftop Urban Park Project included the installation of a large-scale architectural glass pavilion and the transformation of a utility shed into a cafe/video viewing room. The video program was organized around themes chosen by Graham, and he has also been involved in developing a series of performances and events in and around the pavilion.

The Video Salon is open when the museum is open. For museum hours, please click here .

Project Notes

The formation of the Video Salon could not have been possible without generous support and assistance from many people. In particular, we would like to thank Dan Graham and the consultants on the project, Bruce Ferguson, John Hanhardt, Michael Nash, Michael Shamberg, and Sheena Wagstaff. Their invaluable opinions and advice shaped the organization of the library. We would also like to extend our gratitude to Stephen Vitiello for his significant suggestions.
